After nearly 6 months of work, Hello Kitty just launched their first 3d printing store in Hong Kong. Sanrio, the Japanese firm which owns the license to Hello Kitty worldwide, partnered with the design and production firm Dust Production, to get the store off the ground and is looking to measure success here before expanding to a second store in Shanghai.
Visitors can walk into the Hello Kitty 3d printing store to customize their product by design, color and text.
"The project of Hello Kitty x Dust Production wishes to bring a new image of Hello Kitty to all customers and Hello Kitty fans," the store's website writes. "Apart from the traditional production methods, 3D printing Hello Kitty products can be personalized and extendable."
The products available can be chosen from "The Art Series", "The Deco Series", "The Neck Series", "The Finger Series" and "The Ear Series". Once the product type has been chosen, the customer chooses their favorite color and any text they'd like on the product, and the store has that customer's order 3d printed in The Netherlands.
"As we would like to present the classic Hello Kitty in a digital way, it took us 6 months for the whole design process including the research, brain storming, 3D modeling, testing printing and also marketing preparation," the company writes.
