Dominos Set to Deliver Pizza via 3D Printed Drones

It may be the favorite story we've ever written here at ThreeD Materials.

Dominos is set to deliver pizza via drones produced with 3d printers.  Really.

The pizza delivery giant announced it's plans today in New Zealand, which included a demo of a successful delivery of hot Dominos pizza via the company's new pizza drone.  The drones are made with 3d printers and the pizzas are lowered to customers via a tether cord with the autonomous delivery vehicle hovering above.

The company chose New Zealand for the launch as they plan to start their new delivery process there, after partnering with Nevada based Flirtey - a drone technology company - to produce the delivery vehicles.

"New Zealand has the most forward-thinking aviation regulations in the world, and with the new U.S. drone regulations taking effect on August 29, Flirtey is uniquely positioned to bring the same revolutionary Flirtey drone delivery service to partners within the United States," Flirtey's CEO said today in a press release.

Dominos says it has long wanted to be more efficient with its delivery process and this is a step in the right direction.

“We’ve always said that it doesn’t make sense to have a 2-tonne machine delivering a 2-kilogram order,” Domino’s Group CEO and managing director Don Meij said, adding that this "is the next stage of the company’s expansion into the artificial intelligence space and gives us the ability to learn and adopt new technologies in the business.”

If Dominos wants to deliver pizza that's been 3d printed via drones that are 3d printed, they should take a look at this company.
